"If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not people or other things." -Albert Einstein
Goals are something that are incredibly important in life. They not only serve as a reminder of what I want to accomplish, but also as a reminder of how I will get there. The goals I have created follow a specific format - SMART goals. They are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and rewarding, and timely (that is, they have a "due by" date). My goals may change dramatically over the course of my life, but here they are for the time being (in no particular order):
1. I will graduate Magna Cum Laude (GPR of 3.75 or higher).
2. I will earn a certificate in Non-Profit Business and International Business.
3.I will find a way to become more involved in the business school.
4. I will serve on the philanthropy committee in Tri Delta to raise money for St. Jude.
5. I will learn how to make successful budgets for large-scale organizations in my role as Assessment and Finance Director in the MSC.
6. I will join a yoga studio in the Bryan/College Station area.
7. I will have a planned study abroad trip by the end of my sophomore year of college.
8. I will find a church home in the Bryan/College Station area.
9. I will develop a Capstone project for the University Honors program.
10. I will find an internship opportunity to pursue.
As you can see, my goals range from academic, to personal, to social. I think that it is important to have well-rounded goals because it leads to a well-rounded life. There is always opportunity for improvement, and in order to be the best I can be, I get to continually capitalize on that opportunity.
